Maxine Sanders, born Arline Maxine Morris on December 30, 1946, in Cheshire, England. Alongside her late husband, Alex Sanders, she co-founded the Alexandrian Tradition of Witchcraft.
Maxine’s journey into witchcraft began in 1964 when she met Alex Sanders while attending Loreburn Secretarial College. Maxine’s early career as a witch was marked by challenges, including being “outed” as a witch by a local newspaper in 1965. She and Alex were handfasted at Alderley Edge in 1965 and married in a civil ceremony in Kensington, London, in 1968. After separating from Alex in 1974, Maxine created her own coven, the Temple of the Mother, and continued to facilitate intense training for those devoted to the Craft. Today, she remains an active member of the Wiccan community.
