Raymond Howard founded the Coven of Atho tradition in the early 1960s. Howard, promoted the practice via a correspondence course. Remarkable for its devotion to the Horned God, Atho, represented by the “Head of Atho”. The tradition was inspired by the writings of Charles Cardell, another well-known British Wiccan.
The Coven of Atho is still a significant part of the history of modern Wicca, despite a few controversy surrounding it, such as the 1967 theft of the Head of Atho.
