Arnold Crowther, the skilled stage magician, ventriloquist, and puppeteer. Arnold was born on October 7, 1909, in Chatham, Kent, England, UK. He was honoured to host Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) and her sister, Princess Margaret Rose, at Buckingham Palace in 1938–1939. This resulted in several engagements providing entertainment for England’s titled gentry. Crowther founded the Puppet Guild, served as its president, and produced over 500 puppets in his career.
Crowther got to know Gerald Gardner and his wife Donna just before the Second World War. After they became friends, Crowther would often drop by the Gardners’ London flat. Crowther became deeply interested in Witchcraft after meeting Gardner, although he was not initiated until eighteen years later. As a member of the Entertainments National Services Association, Crowther performed his “Black Magic” show for soldiers all over Europe during World War II. In 1947, Crowther gave Gardner an introduction to Aleister Crowley.
Patricia and Arnold Crowther founded the Sheffield Coven in 1961, where they served as High Priestess and High Priest.
